How much do you know about geriatric oncology needs?
With a growing population of older adults (≥70 years old) with cancer, properly assessing these patients and making treatment decisions in line with their individual needs are imperative. Healthcare providers need to be able to adjust their practice for older adult patients, taking into consideration factors such as: risk of falling, muscle weakness, fatigue, cognitive deficits, and declining immune system.
In collaboration with Boston University School of Medicine, Haymarket Medical Education/myCME conducted a Geriatric Oncology needs assessment. This assessment aims to increase awareness and understanding of the practice performance gaps in optimal care among multidisciplinary clinical team members who treat geriatric patients with cancer at academic medical centers or at community cancer centers and clinics in the US.
