How Do Your Skills Rate?
7 out of 10 clinicians surveyed were not confident in their ability to hear the difference between benign and pathological heart murmurs.
To improve clinical skills and confidence, the eMurmur team met with all types of healthcare practitioners who perform heart auscultation—including physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, physician assistants, and cardiologists—to understand how to improve cardiac auscultation skills and how to best train listening skills to detect heart murmurs.
The Result: eMurmur Primer—the app that uses real patient heart sounds and murmurs to build and improve your murmur recognition skills.
When you complete the eMurmur Primer app, you’ll be able to:
Learn What Your Colleagues are Saying About the eMurmur Primer App
“I have loved spending time learning with eMurmur Primer. This app provides the user with a fun, informative way to improve heart sound recognition. I have thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to hearing from other nurse practitioners who want to hone their cardiac auscultation skills, all while learning CE from the convenience of their phone.”

Learn more about this course.
This package focuses on the ability to hear 'something vs. nothing', i.e. whether a heart murmur is present or absent in heart sound recordings. The package introduces you to audible differences between pathologic and innocent murmurs. For example, you will be asked to identify the one heart murmur recording out of a group of four that is either innocent or pathologic. Learn more about this course.
This package focuses on the ability to identify benign and pathologic heart murmurs. You will learn which murmurs warrant further evaluation. (E.g. you get to listen to a randomly selected heart sound recording and are asked to identify the presence and type of murmur. Or you are asked to identify each of four different sounds as being either innocent or pathologic.) Learn more about this course.
