Program Description

A treatment paradigm shift has taken place in the last few years with the availability of several medications that target specific dysregulated pathways for previously untreated and relapsed/refractory (R/R) chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). With these rapid changes, it is difficult for clinicians to keep abreast of the most current efficacy and safety data of the spectrum of targeted agents—eg, BCL2, CD19, CD20, PI3KδƳ, and BTK inhibitors. This education is designed to provide hematologists/oncologists and other providers who manage previously untreated and R/R CLL patients with up-to-date clinical trials results from the 2019 annual meeting of the American Society for Clinical Oncology in Chicago, Illinois. The latest data regarding these therapeutic options allow clinicians to more effectively convey to patients the benefits, risks, and complications of new and emerging drug regimens, alone and in combination, and to evaluate the prognostic and predictive factors that inform treatment decisions.

Intended Audience

Hematologist-oncologists, hematologists, medical oncologists, nurse practitioners (NPs), physician assistants (PAs), and other healthcare professionals involved in the care and treatment of patients with R/R CLL

Educational Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

  • Analyze key clinical trials results of new and emerging targeted agents for previously untreated and relapsed/refractory (R/R) chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL)
  • Evaluate key prognostic and predictive factors when considering second-line therapy for patients with R/R CLL
