Program Description:
Once known primarily for maintaining bone strength, vitamin D is now thought to contribute to prevention of colon, prostate, and breast cancers.
Activity Objectives:
After completing this activity, participants should be better able to:
- Identify the ultimate goal of osteoporosis treatment
- Recognize patients at heightened risk for vitamin D deficiency
- Identify dietary sources of vitamin D
- Recognize patients in whom vitamin D must be administered cautiously
