Program Description

UCSF Breast Imaging and Digital Mammography provides an overview and updates on clinically relevant topics and advances in diagnostic imaging of the breast for both breast imaging specialists and general radiologists.

Program content includes lectures on Breast MRI, updates on and uses of BI-RADS categories, workshop sessions, and faculty panel discussions on current issues in daily practice. The application of mammographic techniques to breast cancer detection and diagnosis is emphasized, as well as recent clinical developments in full-field Digital Mammography.

Intended Audience

This activity is designed for the clinical radiologist who specializes in breast imaging or who practices general diagnostic radiology including breast imaging. It is designed to help radiologists build their digital mammography practices on a firm foundation of knowledge.

Educational Objectives

After taking part in this educational activity, participants should be better able to:

  • Apply and utilize BI-RADS categories as appropriate
  • Develop a skillful and practical approach to performing and interpreting mammography, breast US and breast MRI
  • Anticipate and resolve potential medicolegal issues relevant to breast imaging
  • Apply the current status of digital mammography and results of clinical trials using full-field digital mammography
  • Describe practical approaches to the implementation of full-field digital mammography in a breast imaging practice
  • Gain practice in analyzing and interpreting digital mammography cases
