Program Description:
This program focuses on Alzheimer-type dementia causes and treatments and covers the use of psychotropic medication and other pharmacologic options, as well as behavioral treatments and the disease burden on caregivers.
Activity Objectives:
- Determine how to make the Alzheimer disease (AD) diagnosis from clinical observations and patient history.
- Become familiar with both behavioral treatment and medication options and how to use the two together.
- Learn about the genetic basis of AD.
- Differentiate between patients with major depressive disorder and those with mild AD.
