Program Description:

Testosterone is increasingly recognized as a vital factor in morbidity and mortality, with important implications for metabolic syndrome, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease, as well as depression and bone health. A finding of testosterone deficiency represents a multifaceted treatment opportunity to help improve a man’s libido and sexual function as well as other domains that contribute to a general sense of well-being and quality of life. This activity addresses clinical quandaries and controversy surrounding male hypogonadism, with a review of appropriate screening, diagnosis, and treatment regimens.

Activity Objectives:

After completing this educational activity, participants should be able to:


  • Identify the symptoms of male hypogonadism and the comorbid conditions associated with low levels of testosterone

  • Use appropriate tools/tests in the diagnosis of testosterone deficiency in men of all ages

  • Explain the risks and benefits of various approaches to testosterone therapy in hypogonadal men

  • Monitor patients receiving testosterone therapy
