Statement of Need

To maintain and deliver the highest standard of care for their patients, it is essential that clinicians are able to incorporate timely, relevant, and evidence-based pharmacology information into their therapeutic treatment decisions. This CME activity provides information on indications, risk/benefits, research/clinical trial data, contraindications, and applications within a clinical setting on a broad spectrum of medications that have been recently approved, have new indications, or have recently received updated information.

In addition, clinicians on the front lines in primary care need to keep up with the latest clinical news in order to stay informed of the most up-to-date health care information and trends in pharmacotherapeutic management.

Intended Audience

This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of primary care clinicians who need to keep abreast of current evidence-based pharmacology information and pertinent clinical news.

Educational Objectives

After participating in this activity, clinicians should be better able to:

  • Analyze potential pharmacotherapeutic applications for the reviewed agent(s), with consideration of safety issues that may preclude use or warrant patient monitoring
  • Compare dosage, route of administration, efficacy, and/or safety for the agent(s) discussed in this activity with other members of the same therapeutic class
  • Evaluate clinical news for application in professional practice
