This webcast aims to educate practitioners on the therapeutic options and considerations for the treatment of acute lower back pain, focusing on skeletal muscle relaxants and their safety and tolerability, and product substitution and pharmacist liability.

Activity Objectives:

After taking part in this activity, participants should be better able to:

  • Cite the prevalence, negative impact, and associated costs of acute pain, particularly of the low back
  • Identify therapeutic recommendations for acute pain
  • Describe the use of skeletal muscle relaxants for acute pain, including safety and tolerability
  • Explain the possibility of abuse potential, particularly with higher dosing
  • Describe prescribing and dispensing laws and consequences for noncompliance
