Program Description:

Clinicians should be informed and stay current about new molecular entities and new indications of drugs for use in everyday practice. This CME/CEU activity is designed to give clinicians a better understanding of the pharmacology, indications, contraindications, benefits/risks, and clinical trials data of a broad spectrum of new agents and those that have been granted a new indication. This activity will allow these health care professionals to make the most up-to-date—and most appropriate—therapeutic decisions for their patients.

After participating in this activity, clinicians should be better able to:

  • List drug names, mechanisms of action, and pharmacologic properties

  • Identify contraindications and precautions that may preclude or condition the drug’s use

  • Outline potential adverse drug reactions, drug interactions, and necessary monitoring parameters

  • Discuss route of administration, dosing schedule, and dosing formulations

  • Compare therapy with other members of the same therapeutic class

  • For Pharmacists Only: Provide accurate and appropriate counsel as part of the treatment team
