Program Description:
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death in the United States, primarily due to the effects of heart disease and stroke. The goal of this case-based interview, which is part of a webcast series presented by the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, is to educate clinicians about optimal management of hyperglycemia and hypertension in diabetes as it relates to cardiovascular disease prevention.
INTENDED AUDIENCE:
This educational activity is intended for Physicians and other healthcare clinicians who treat patients with cardiovascular/cerebrovascular diseases and stroke. There are no prerequisites.
Activity Objectives:
At the conclusion of this activity, the participant should demonstrate the ability to:
- Discuss the current evidence-based guidelines for cardiovascular disease prevention in diabetes in the following areas: anti-platelet therapy, blood pressure, and diabetes/glucose management.
- Discuss and incorporate results of recent clinical trials of glucose and blood pressure control into current management of cardiovascular risk factors in diabetes.
