Program Description:
Breastfeeding and human milk are the gold standards for infant nutrition. Although giving birth to twins is itself associated with lower rates of exclusive breastfeeding at hospital discharge, most breastfeeding challenges can be addressed. Providing recommended support can help the mother of twins to breastfeed exclusively, as recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics. Nurses, lactation consultants, and the pediatric practice need to collaborate to support the mother and baby.
