Program Description:
As new vaccines become available for adults, the NP will need to stay abreast of the evolving vaccine recommendations and be prepared to educate patients on the benefits of prevention. This educational program is designed to increase awareness among NPs of the importance of adult vaccination, and to provide useful and concise information to assist practitioners in educating their patients about the benefits of vaccination.
Activity Objectives:
At the conclusion of this CE activity, participants should be better able to:
- Describe the prevalence, incidence, and consequences of diseases for which the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommends adult vaccination
- Summarize available vaccines for the prevention of vaccine-preventable diseases in adults
- Discuss the appropriate age of administration and dosing schedules recommended by the ACIP
- Implement strategies to increase vaccination rates among adult patients
